Katie Cotton of Cotton Rouge & Company

cotton_rouge

Katie Cotton of Cotton Rouge & Company is a local make up artist and photographer. She does fantastic work, and I couldn’t help but share. She recently did my makeup and took photos of me (see bottom left photo) to use as new head shots for my business, Sofia Invitations and Prints. If you are looking for a makeup artist for your wedding, event, or business….don’t hesitate to hire Katie.  I was so impressed with her professionalism, and I think the photos speak for themselves, she did an amazing job. Thank you Katie!

P.S. The “celebrate” sign was laser cut by our company, The Gilded Line. The calligraphy was by Linda Sung of 37th and Lettery, and photo by Lauren Curry of LC Photography.

We will talk about more local Upstate, SC vendors we love later!

Custom Color Letterpress Printing

We get very busy with wedding invitation orders at this time of the year. I like to take a moment and look back at things we have made in the past (it’s been almost 7 years of business!). Here is a little collage of letterpress printing I have done for many different customers, each one in a different color for a completely different design. I will always love letterpress!

Classic and Modern Monogram Letterpress Wedding Invitation

What do you think of my experimental photography?  I took a snap shot of this monogram letterpress invitation I designed and printed for couple here in Greenville, South Carolina.  I love the classic and modern feeling of this invitation….and black and white is always elegant.  We had the invitation mounted on a radiant orchid card stock, with a radiant orchid envelope liner. This is a custom design.  I would love to work with you on your wedding invitations too! Contact me at sofia@sofiainvitations.com

The Cost of Laser Cutting or Engraving

We have many people approach us to make custom laser cut items (especially wedding invitations and stationery products such as belly bands). We have found that many people are not aware of the costs associated with laser cut products. In the hopes of educating our customers, here is a brief breakdown of how we price laser cut products:

1)      The cost of a laser is very high. Companies either lease or purchase their laser, and sometimes with a loan. Imagine the technology that goes into a laser! This is not a simple machine with a knife inside….it’s a laser! Some lasers are comparable to the cost of a car.

2)      The cost of electricity to run a machine can be high.

3)      The time it takes to cut or engrave a design with a laser varies greatly depending on the amount of detail in the design, the size of the design, and the type of material that is being used. Time is money.

4)      The cost of materials used is always factored into the price (you can imagine that certain types of paper are more expensive than others, such as metallic papers are more expensive than plain white papers).

All of these factors determine the final cost of cutting and/or engraving items on our laser. We try to keep our prices low as compared to our competitors in the United States, and we feel if you did your research you would find this to be true.

Therefore, based on the above information, sometimes laser cutting/engraving may cost even more than other fancy printing methods (like letterpress).

We sincerely hope this information helps you understand our price points, and we encourage you to contact up today for a price quote! To be most helpful, if you have a specific budget, please let us know this in advance so that we can give you multiple options to meet your needs.

The belly band in the picture below costs approximately $1.80 each…. depending on the paper stock you would like to use.

Vintage Floral Coral Letterpress Invitation

I printed this lovely invitation a few weeks ago for a customer getting married in Greenville, South Carolina…..not far from where I print my designs in Spartanburg.  It features a vintage cut of a floral design, with modern fonts, and a pretty striped envelope liner!  The couple’s wedding colors are coral and grey….very modern and chic!  What do you think?
