I love wood type for letterpress. It just has such impact, even before you print it. I generally do not print with wood type… mainly because it is so hard to get your hands on a full alphabet, but also because it’s not really practical for letterpress printing wedding invitations. But I can still admire it! Here are a few pics I took at the Asheville Bookworks in North Carolina.
I drove 1.5 hours north-east from where I am Spartanburg, SC…. to Asheville, NC on Saturday to check out the Ladies of Letterpress Conference. It was a fantastic event! I met Rachel Ann Dennis, a fantastic printmaker. She made this beautiful print that I just had to share! Here is a picture of the print and of her printing at The Letterpress of Tulsa.
I know that I keep showing you new letterpress and digital invitations….but I have been working so hard and I am so happy to share them with you! Here is another. I personally LOVE this one. I have a new wedding invitation printed by letterpress…..featuring a sweet heart design! I couldn’t help it with this one! I wanted to create something really fun, light-hearted, pretty, and a little bit bold with a retro twist. Seen here printed on a light blue 100% cotton paper, I also printed it on white. What do you think?

I am working on a few new letterpress wedding invitation designs. Once of which will feature pink typography with a gold (or silver?) hearts….. so fresh and fun! Here are a few pics of the printing process. I will show the end result later!

I want to share with you the final result. I think these came out great! I especially love the paper (it’s a light grey cotton paper by Arturo, an Italian paper company). The ink color is a dark purple. I have included envelopes that match the paper of the invitations. I recently printed this fun note card set of 30 for a customer. She wanted the bike design printed in letterpress at the top, with a quote at the bottom….in blue on thick cream cover stock. I printed this lovely invitation a few weeks ago for a customer getting married in Greenville, South Carolina…..not far from where I print my designs in Spartanburg. It features a vintage cut of a floral design, with modern fonts, and a pretty striped envelope liner! The couple’s wedding colors are coral and grey….very modern and chic! What do you think?

I am getting ready to letterpress this new invitation for a very sweet client in my local area of Spartanburg, SC. I will be printing this modern and elegant design featuring a script font and flourish decorative elements on a beautiful light grey paper, using a dark purple ink….with matching envelopes!
