I recently released a new invitation design on Etsy. It is a clean, bright, modern, bold, and colorful floral design: Modern Bloom. I created this design after playing with my watercolors using the same pattern for years. This is a design that I constantly come back to… simple in it’s nature, yet very pretty. I want to thank everyone for their feedback on my children’s stationary sketches. I have edited the designs more, and will be submitting these designs soon (perhaps with a little more tweaking first). You can see my already submitted designs for past competitions, and for this competition once I submit the designs, here… http://www.minted.com/designer/sofiainvitations

I am working on a few designs for the latest competition at Minted: Children’s Stationary. You can read about the competition (and later see my submissions) here: http://www.minted.com/contest. The designs can be for all ages, baby to 14….and for boys or girls. I am working on getting the best color scheme for the below design before I size it correctly and get the best composition. What do you think? Which color scheme is best?

Inspiration for a wedding theme, wedding invitations, or any stationary product can come from anything. Vintage items of all sorts have great history, but also have beautiful designs. Look at old postage stamps for inspiration….they have so many beautiful colors, compositions, and central imagery! Take a look at these and think about how they could be applied to your wedding invitations or wedding theme. Ask a wedding planner and a wedding invitation designer to help make your inspiration come to life. All postage stamp images are courtesy of deposit photos: www.deposit photos.com

I am excited I have found a new printer to work with in Spartanburg, SC! They are called Action Printing Inc. http://www.actionprintinginc.net
I will be picking up some new invitation samples from them tomorrow and will show more images then!
In the meantime, here is an invitation I designed for Kate O’Donnell Diaz. She and her husband, Brian, are theater lovers and wanted a theater themed invitation. They also wanted it to look like a ticket and have the RSVP card attached. Guests can tear off the RSVP card and save the invitation. Everyone was very happy with the results!
